Betty Truesdell Cockrell died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley, Miss. She was 77.

Born in Lewis County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Cecil Kilgore and Martha Poole Kilgore. Mrs. Cockrell had been a resident of Vicksburg for 30 years before moving to Ripley, where she had lived for the past 19 years. She retired from Magnolia Homes in 1991.

Mrs. Cockrell was a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves her husband, Charles N. Cockrell of Ripley; a son, Glen Truesdell Jr. (Stacy) of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Clint Truesdell (Shannon), Mikey Truesdell (Haley), Kayla Truesdell, McLaurin Truesdell and Stafford Truesdell; five great-grandchildren, Abbey Truesdell, Ashlyn Truesdell, Brayden Truesdell, Layton Truesdell and Logan Sanders; three stepchildren, Carol Willoughby, Donna Jodrey and Connie Pfister; one sister, Bonnie Roush of Ohio; one brother, Billy Kilgore Sr. (Sue) of Ohio; an aunt, Mable Jones of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Truesdell Sr.; a daughter, Theresa Truesdell; and a son, Danny Jennings.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Short officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 until 7 tonight and from 1 p.m. Friday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Clint Truesdell, Mikey Truesdell, Wayne Lunch, Andy Norstrom, Leroy Williams, Rory Cook, Robert Wells and Joe White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pam Wills, John Wills and Wilfred Cockrell.
