Chelsea Duett scored the go-ahead goal with less than 10 minutes to play Saturday, capping a wild comeback for Warren Central in a 3-2 victory over Petal at the Laurel tournament.

WC trailed 2-1 with about 15 minutes left. Torre Danczyk converted a penalty kick for the tying goal after Mallory Reynolds was fouled in the box, then Duett scored her second goal of the game a few minutes later for the game-winner.

Taylor Hanes had two assists for WC, and goal keeper Katie Humphries made 10 saves. WC was outshot 22-8, but still found a way to pull out the victory.

“We finally finished a game against a good team,” WC coach Trey Banks said.

In their second game of the day — played just 90 minutes after the one against Petal — Warren Central didn’t fare as well, losing 6-2 to Greene County.

Lindsey Barfield had a goal and an assist for WC (2-1-1), Reynolds scored a goal and Hanes had another assist. Humphries made 11 saves while facing 22 shots.

“We were just dead tired,” Banks said. “Putting all that energy into the first game and then turning around that quickly takes a lot out of you. I’m not disappointed in our effort in that game.”
