On Monday:

• Awarded a sealed bid for a 2010 combination sewer cleaning machine to Sansom Equipment Company of Mobile, Ala., for $334,694. The lowest bid of $299,650 by Covington Sales & Services of Denham Springs, La., was rejected because bid specifications were not met.

• OK’d the city clerk to advertise for sealed bids for the concrete floor at the Vicksburg Convention Center to be polished.

• OK’d a request by CNN to broadcast footage of board meetings for a piece on Linda Fondren, a local gym owner in the running for the 2010 CNN Hero award. The footage will be shown Thanksgiving night.

• OK’d a $75 advertisement request from Vicksburg Catholic School for the Lady Flashes softball team.

• OK’d a request from the YMCA for its third annual Chill in the Hills, a 10K run, 5K walk and one-mile fun run through downtown Vicksburg Jan. 15.

• OK’d budget amendments: a revenue increase of $35,000 in the capital improvement fund that came from leftover Community Development Block Grant funds used at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport; a $35,000 expense increase in the capital improvement fund.

• OK’d Victor Gray-Lewis, director of Buildings and Inspections, to execute an agreement to give materials for renovation at the old Levee Street depot.

• Discussed dilapidated buildings and overgrown-lot codes and OK’d Gray-Lewis to cut, clean and demolish: 711 Harris St., 1115 Second North St., 812 Walnut St., 2503 Togo St., 1729 Military Ave. and 706 Harris St. OK’d a 30-day extension for 813 Bowman St.

• Accepted a letter establishing special assessment and adopted a resolution to cut and clear 135 Skyline Drive, owned by Deutsche Bank.

• OK’d a notice of intent to apply for a certified local government grant for survey work on about 300 buildings on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Sky Farm Avenue and Skyline Drive.

In closed session, the board:

• OK’d a pay adjustment in the police department.

• Discussed two personnel matters and a litigation matter in the medical and fire departments.

The board meets next at 10 a.m. Nov. 24.
