Henderson, Purvis to recite vows

Dr. and Mrs. Earnest Andrew Johnson of Greenwood announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Meredith Meaders Henderson of Starkville, to Oren Wesley Purvis, also of Starkville. Mr. Purvis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Purvis of Vicksburg.

Miss Henderson is also the daughter of the late Bobby Neal Henderson Jr. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Bobby Noel Henderson Sr. and the late Mr. Henderson, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Douglas Gregg Sr. and Nell Johnson, all of Greenwood.

Mr. Purvis is the grandson of Mrs. John W. Purvis Jr. of Port Gibson and the late Mr. Purvis and Mr. and Mrs. Oren Segrest Jr. of Clinton and the late Marjorie Segrest.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Pillow Academy and a 2010 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in animal and dairy science.

Miss Henderson is pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at MSU, where she is a member of the student chapters of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Club.

The prospective groom is a 2003 graduate of Porters Chapel Academy and a 2008 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he received double bachelor’s degrees in animal and dairy science production and business. He also minored in agricultural business.

Mr. Purvis is employed by Prairie Livestock LLC in West Point.

Vows will be exchanged at 6 p.m. Dec. 18, 2010, at North Greenwood Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Phillips will officiate at the ceremony. A reception will follow at the Greenwood Country Club
