About 90 sticks of dynamite were destroyed Wednesday after being found on farmland near the Warren-Yazoo county line.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said about 90 sticks of agricultural-grade explosives were found by a property owner in a barn early in the day and destroyed by the state Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regional bomb squad from Clinton.
He did not identify the owner of the property in north Warren County, off Mississippi 3.
Pace said the dynamite was deemed too dangerous to be moved before being destroyed.
He said the explosives in years past were commonly used by farmers for removing stumps and similar jobs. Officials did not know how old the explosives were.
