Noel Wesley Milton Hollyfield

RAYMOND — Noel Wesley Milton Hollyfield died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at his home near Raymond. He was 88.

Mr. Hollyfield was born in Cravens, La., to William Lee Hollyfield and Francis Agnes Drake Hollyfield. He was raised in Trout, La., Crossett, Ark., and Deweyville, Texas, where he graduated from Deweyville High School in 1938.

He worked in shipyards in Orange, Texas, attended Tarleton State College in Stephenville, Texas, and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and in the National Guard in the Korean War.

He retired in 1980 as a hydraulics engineer at Waterways Experiment Station and made furniture as a master woodworker.

Survivors include a son, Noel Wesley Hollyfield Jr. of Raymond; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond from noon Thursday until the service.
