Teens find voice with Poetry Out Loud

How do you get teenagers not only interested in poetry, but in reciting it in front of a group of people?
Tell them they can win $20,000.
That’s what Warren Central High School English teacher Vincent Price did to gather volunteers for Poetry Out Loud, a competition in which high school students from across the country recite a poem for judges and an audience.
“When I tell them they could win $20,000 cash, I normally get 30 students signed up automatically,” Price said, “but as the deadline comes closer and closer, people start dropping out because they don’t have time to recite the poems.”
