The Vicksburg District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has named a new chief of dredging operations in the river operations division.

Cody Eckhart, a native of Monroe, began his Corps career in the hydraulics branch of the Water control section. He is a graduate of Ouachita Pariah High and has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Louisiana Tech University.

He is the son of Warren and Donna Eckhardt of Monroe.

The Vicksburg District, on Clay Street, employs more than 1,200 people.
