City begins new year with 5 burglary reports

Five burglaries have been reported in the city since Friday.
Super 10, 1509 Washington St., reported a break-in at 11:20 on New Year’s Eve night.
Nothing was taken, but security cameras showed the suspect wearing black pants and a black hat and running north on Washington Street.
Just two hours later, on the first day of the new year, the city’s first residential burglary of the year was reported. A 50-inch Sanyo flat-screen TV valued at $800 was reported missing from a home in the 200 block of Demby Drive.
At 9 that night, 30 DVDs valued at $15 each and a 26-inch Emerson flat-screen TV valued at $450 were reported missing from a home in the 2200 block of Pearl Street.
Also Monday at about 2:30 p.m., an Acer laptop computer valued at $950 was reported missing from a home in the 100 block of East-
over Drive.
On Monday at about 1 p.m., a purse valued at $50 containing $250 was reported missing from a 2004 Chevrolet pickup parked in the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle.
