William Gabriel Harris III

William Gabriel Harris III died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his home. He was 60.
Mr. Harris was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Bell Knox; his grandmothers, Idell Bryant and Lena Harris; grandfather, William G. Harris Sr.; and father-in-law, Sam Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Sharron “Polly” Harris of Vicksburg; son, W. Gabriel Harris IV (Andrea), both of Vicksburg; father, William G. Harris Jr. (Martha), both of Hattiesburg; granddaughter, Emily Harris of Vicksburg; twin grandsons, Samuel and Charles Harris, both of Vicksburg; brothers, James (Willie Mae) Harris, Donald (Rita) Harris, Jerome Harris and Earnest Bryant, all of Hattiesburg, and Leroy Harris; sisters, Kaye Barnes of Hattiesburg and Mary P. Dixon of Biloxi; mother-in-law, Vermell Jackson of Hattiesburg; special aunt, Virginia (Tony) Jones of Hattiesburg; sisters-in-law, Vermester Bester, Lyndia Hodges, Christine Woodland, all of Hattiesburg, and Retha (Daryl) Harrison of Byram; brother-in-law, Sammie (Mamie) Jackson of Kenner, La.; and other relatives and friends including Leroy (Betty) Johnson of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bypass Church of Christ with Minister Oscar Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church.
