3 finalists for Alcorn football coach

LORMAN — Alcorn State has announced three finalists for its vacant head football coach position, among them is a former star quarterback for the Braves.
The university said in a news release that a new coach would be announced Wednesday.
The new coach will succeed Earnest Collins, now football coach at Northern Colorado.
One of the finalists is Fred L. McNair, the oldest brother of the late NFL quarterback Steve McNair who died in 2009. Fred McNair is presently an assistant at Mount Olive High School. He also was an assistant at Millsaps College and played 10 years in the Arena Football League.
Melvin Spears Jr., a former Braves wide receiver, is an assistant at Alabama State. He is a former head coach at Grambling State University.
Dwayne A. White, a former Braves offensive lineman, is currently president of the South Florida chapter of NFL Players Association. He is a former assistant for the Seattle Seahawks and at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
