1950s Sock Hop tonight at Vicksburg Auditorium

A Sock Hop to promote a Broadway show that’s headed to Vicksburg will be from 4 to 6 this evening at City Auditorium.

Admission is free for those dressed in 1950s attire and $5 for others. The event is a prelude to “All Shook Up,” a show featuring Elvis Presley songs that will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday at the auditorium on Monroe Street. Tickets are $22 , $32 and $52 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com or at the Vicksburg Convention Center box office at 1600 Mulberry St.

MC gallery to host 5 artists in exhibit

Works by five regional artists will be exhibited at the Samuel Marshall Gore Galleries in Clinton through Feb. 18.

A reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the gallery, located 199 Monroe St. on the Mississippi College campus.

The featured artists will be Melanie Atkinson, chairman of the Department of Art at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Charles Busler of Meridian, Susan Tabb Hataway of Raymond, Dennis Heckler of Yazoo City and Millie Howell of Philadelphia.

Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Admission is free.
