Kemper Meacham Jr.

CLINTON — Sidney Kemper Meacham Jr. died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 74.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Meahcam was the son of the late Sidney Kemper Meacham Sr. and Hedy Hunt Meacham. He was a 1954 graduate of Carr Central High School and graduated from Mississippi College with a double major in math and chemistry. He had been a resident of Clinton since 1972.

Mr. Meacham was active in the sports programs at Carr Central High School and Mississippi College. He was an agent with Dixie National Life Insurance Company in Jackson, later establishing Meacham Associates in Clinton.

He was a member of numerous professional associations and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Meacham was of the Baptist faith.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn McDaniel Meacham.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Lowery (Ricky) of Vicksburg; four sons, Sidney Allison Meacham Sr. (Gail) of Vicksburg, Anthony Kendall “Ken” Meacham (Charitie) of Madison, Aubrey Kevin Meacham (Brandie) and Sidney Kemper “Trey” Meacham III, both of Clinton; five grandchildren Sidney Allison “Bear” Meacham Jr., Michelle Lowery Cole, Kemper Cole Meacham, Kendall Gage Meacham and Kelley Claire Meacham; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie Cole and Caden Cole; a sister, June Hill of Decatur, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Cary Stockett, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2 until 4 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hill, Tom Flowers, Billy Parker, Billy Joe Cross, Alfred Barfield, Ricky Lowery, Sidney “Bear” Meacham Jr. and Josh Cole.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert G. Temple, Dean Deweese, Monty Brister and Bill Fenwick.
