Mark Rucker

Mark Rucker died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at his home. He was 51.

Born in Yazoo City, Mr. Rucker was a former longtime resident of Vicksburg and had lived in Nashville, Tenn., for a number of years. He was a 1977 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He was a graduate of Hinds Junior College and received a bachelor’s degree from Belmont University.

Mr. Rucker had worked as a senior systems analyst for several large companies. He was a professional musician and had toured internationally as a professional bass player. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Mount Juliet, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Rucker Sr.

He is survived by a daughter, Lindsey Rucker Pearson of Nashville; his mother, Marjorie Mims Rucker of Vicksburg; two brothers, James “Jim” Rucker Jr. of Vicksburg and Tom Rucker of Atlanta; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry T. McEwen officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terry Busby, Barry Hamill, Tim Hilbun, Steve English, Brad Jones, Jerry Rushing, Jim Rucker and Tom Rucker.
