Barrett, LSU slam Ole Miss

Three LSU players scored in double-figures, led by a game-high 19 points from former Murrah star LaSondra Barrett, and the Lady Tigers rode a 17-0 second-half run to a dominating 78-43 win over Ole Miss on Thursday night.

Barrett added seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists for LSU (13-7, 3-3 SEC), which improved to 55-5 under coach Van Chancellor when holding an opponent to under 50 points. It was the 12th straight victory for LSU when surrendering less than 50 points.

Ole Miss (8-9, 1-4) never led and lost its fourth consecutive game. It was the largest win for the Lady Tigers over Ole Miss in Baton Rouge in the series history.

Auburn 45, MSU 41

Blanche Alverson and Alli Smalley scored 11 points apiece to lead Auburn (12-7, 5-1 SEC) past Mississippi State (8-9, 0-5).

Catina Bett had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Porsha Porter had 10 points and eight rebounds for Mississippi State, which lost its sixth straight game. Auburn outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-4 over the last 7 1/2 minutes.

USM 86, Tulane 81

Freshman Jamierra Faulkner and junior Rachel Vigers combined for 46 points and 18 rebounds in leading Southern Miss (7-11, 2-3 C-USA) past Tulane (15-3, 4-1) in overtime.

Faulkner just missed a triple-double, with nine rebounds to go with 11 assists and a game-high 24 points. Vigers scored 20 points and Brittany Johnson chipped in 16.
