Louisa Whitehead collapses into the arms of her husband, Ernest Whitehead, after arriving to find their home at 4223 Rifle Range Road on fire at about 1 p.m. Thursday. City fire investigator Leslie Decareaux said the cause appeared to be a portable electric heater in the back of the house that was heavily damaged by the blaze. Two hours earlier, at right, Patrisha Strong watches as firefighters work to extinguish a blaze at the home she shared with nine other people at 1735 Sky Farm Ave. Strong was at home with her parents and brother when the fire broke out on the stove. No injuries were reported in either blaze.
