A call to 911 is credited with preventing a residential burglary and resulting in two arrests in the city Monday.

The caller whom police Sgt. Sandra Williams did not identify reported two people peering into a home in the 2300 block of Cherry Street at 12:36 p.m.

Police responded and chased the two, catching up with and arresting them about a block away, at Speed and Drummond streets, Williams said.

Timothy Tillman, 20, 3208 Victory Ave., and Jametria Stevenson, 20, 1605 Speed St., were charged at 12:52 p.m. with attempted burglary.

Tillman and Stevenson were being held at the Warren County Jail. Bond for each was set at $10,000, jail records showed.

Williams said a window in the Cherry Street home had been broken and a door had been kicked, but the home was not entered and nothing was reported stolen.
