CHICAGO — Joe S. Price died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at his home in Chicago. He was 68.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Price was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the Army, serving as a military policeman while in Vietnam. He was employed by Caterpillar in Aurora, Ill., for 35 years. He was chairman of the deacon board at Sunrise Baptist Church in Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Sims Price; his brothers, William Price Jr. and Albert Price; and sisters, Erma Belton, Lily Pickens and Betty Reddix.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elois Peaches Price of Chicago; two sons, Ronnie Muhammad of Chicago Heights, Ill., and Kevin Price of Hillside, Ill.; two daughters, Glenda Price-Carter of Newport News, Va., and Tracey Proby of Hazel Crest, Ill.; three brothers, Willie Price and Theodore Price, both of Vicksburg, and George Price of Bossier City, La.; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Pickens, Peaches, Meeks and Reed families.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
