Two wrecks in the city and county Saturday sent six people to the hospital.
In a single vehicle wreck around 3:30 p.m. near U.S. 61 South and Iowa Boulevard, Shawn Johnson, 39, 1790 Fisher Ferry Road, was injured when his motorcycle crashed, said police Sgt. Penny Johnson. No details about the wreck were available.
Johnson was taken to River Region Medical Center, and later transferred to University Medical Center where he was in good condition Saturday night, said UMC spokesman Bruce Coleman.
Also Saturday, Cody Owens, 18, 627 Wright Road, was driving a 1997 Dodge extended cab pickup on Campbell Swamp Road just west of Wright Road when he lost control of the truck, which left the road, hit a tree and flipped on its side, said Sheriff Martin Pace.
Passengers in the pickup were Brooke Guest, 17, Ashley Belknapp, 16 and Lefleigh Jackson, 13, all of 627 Wright Road, and Alisa Hambright, 8, 135 Hennington Road, Pace said.
Hambright was taken by her grandfather and the others were taken by ambulance to River Region, Pace said.
Guest, Belknapp and Jackson were treated and released, and the hospital had no record of Owens and Hambright, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.
Owens was cited for reckless driving, said Pace.
