St. Aloysius had to wait an extra day for its playoff rematch against nemesis Madison-St. Joe.

The Class 1A-2A-3A North State championship match, originally scheduled for Tuesday night, was postponed until tonight at 6 because of severe weather expected to roll through the area in advance of a strong cold front.

The weather turned out to be less dicey than anticipated, but with Madison-St. Joe taking an hour-long bus ride to Balzli Field neither team wanted to take any chances.

“Safety first,” St. Aloysius coach Suzie Channell said. “We didn’t want them to be on the road.”
