Capt. Brian Borkowski, who works at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, has been promoted to the rank of Army major.

He is the assistant technical director for military engineering in the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory at ERDC. A Parman, Ohio, native, his GSL service began in July 2009 and has included five months testing products and gathering information in Afghanistan.
