The return of Goody’s Department Store to the Vicksburg Mall is signaling another step in the revitalization of the city’s only indoor mall.

Changes can be seen throughout the halls of Vicksburg Mall.

• Fewer kiosks clog hallways.

• Self-serve soft-drink machines are readily available.

• Leather chairs and magazine-covered tables have been added to the concourse making it more inviting to guests.

• Better signage, especially for the movie theater, is a welcome improvement.

The mall looks better than it has for years.

Each store that announces an opening in the mall is positive news, and hopefully will mean the mall will attract people and dollars. Still, plenty of work remains ahead, particularly adding more eating options than the two currently available.

Shoppers in Vicksburg and Warren County have options — from the Outlets at Vicksburg to the growth along U.S. 61 North to downtown. Adding Goody’s to the mall adds another option in attracting business.
