Delta wallops Tallulah, 70-38

Marley Anne Scheiele had 23 points, 10 rebounds and six steals, and Whitney Corbin added 18 points as Delta Academy (33-8) blasted Tallulah Academy (20-12) in the first round of the Class A girls state tournament.

Delta held Tallulah to 24 percent shooting (6-for-25) in the first half. Using a tenacious press the entire first half, the Lady Raiders opened a double-digit lead by the midway point of the first quarter and took a 25-point advantage into halftime. Delta’s defense backed off in the second half, but Tallulah still was unable to put anything together until the waning moments of the fourth quarter.

Megan Givens led Tallulah with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Allie Kate Gossett scored nine points and Kathleen Oliver grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
