Growth in county’s District 1 will require lines to be redrawn Information a flip-flop from earlier reports

Warren County’s five supervisor districts will have to be redrawn after all, likely requiring supervisor elections this year and in 2012.
Meeting in Jackson with representatives of Central Mississippi Planning and Development District, which helps county officials meet federal guidelines, supervisors have learned that Districts 2 and 3 need more population to even out the burst of growth in District 1.
If supervisors come up with a plan to take back to CMPDD and get it approved in weeks, this year’s elections — primaries are Aug. 2 and the general election is Nov. 8 — could be the only ones required.
If approval of new lines doesn’t come in weeks, those election dates could hold for this year and voters would have to return to the polls in 2012 to cast ballots along redrawn lines.
