Edna Lee Claiborne

Services for Edna Lee “Charlie” Claiborne of Vicksburg will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Grove Street Baptist Church, 2715 Alcorn Drive, with the Rev. Gregory Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 until 7 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Claiborne died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.

She retired after 22 years in culinary services at Vicksburg Convalescent Home and spent a number of years in child care. She was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she served on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Isabella Rogers; her husband, Eddie Claiborne; three sisters, Lucille Miller, Pearlie Rogers and Barbara Paige; and a brother, James D. Rogers.

Survivors include four daughters, Estella Juanita Claiborne, Marie Claiborne Sims and Darlene Claiborne, all of Vicksburg, and Shirley Claiborne Taylor of Shreveport; three sisters, Willie Lee Motley and Idarene Rogers, both of Los Angeles, and Susie Perkins of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including members of the Gibson, Miller, Boykins and Hicks families.
