The Public Employees’ Retirement System of Mississippi will hold a runoff election for one of two retiree representative positions on the PERS Board of Trustees.
Feb. 8 produced no majority vote among the eight candidates. The top vote-getters, Dr. Randy D. McCoy of Tupelo and Dr. Richard C. Miller of Jackson, will vie in the runoff.
Ballots, biographical information and candidate statements for the runoff election will be mailed March 14 to retirees and beneficiaries receiving a retirement allowance. The deadline for voting is 5 p.m. April 13, and the board will certify election results at its April 27 meeting.
PERS was established by the Mississippi Legislature in 1952 to provide benefits to retirees.
