Chase ends in city man’s being arrested for ecstasy

A Vicksburg man was arrested just before 2 a.m. Sunday and charged with possession of a controlled substance, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.
Joseph Wells, 23, 3802 Halls Ferry was stopped by police at Grove and Washington streets for a traffic violation, Williams said. After stopping his car, Wells got out and ran north toward Jackson Street. Police caught and arrested him at Jackson and Washington streets.
After searching Wells they found an unknown number of pills identified as methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or ecstasy, Williams said.
Wells was released on a $5,000 bond from the Warren County Jail at 11:10 a.m. Sunday.
