2 stolen vehicles found; another reported missing

A man who took off running from a traffic stop on Alcorn Drive Thursday morning was being sought by Vicksburg police because the vehicle was found to have been stolen.

A 2008 Kia Optima reported missing in Utica two hours before the traffic stop at 11 a.m. was recovered in the 100 block of Alcorn Drive, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart said the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran south into a wooded area toward Grove Street.

Separately, a 2000 Kia Sephia reported missing in 2008 from Little Rock, Ark., was recovered Thursday night in Vicksburg after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Washington Street, Stewart said.

The driver of the vehicle was released this morning after questioning, Stewart said, adding that no charges will be filed against her.

Also Thursday, a truck was reported missing from a hotel parking lot in the city.

A 2005 Ford F-350, Louisiana tag B560 0853, valued at $35,000 was reported missing at 6:20 a.m. from the Candlewood Suites, 1296 S. Frontage Road.
