Joyalene Oakes, 72, of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at River Region Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight, March 25, 2011, at the funeral home.

Joyalene had worked for the Vicksburg Warren School District as a bookkeeper for some 27 years. She enjoyed attending Bible study and reading. Joyalene enjoyed gardening, being a part of various sewing circles, loved the outdoors and traveling. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports.

Joyalene was a lifelong member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church and also enjoyed attending Bradley’s Chapel UMC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Albert Logue and Azile Whatley Logue.

Survivors include sons, Donald Stuart (Jay Ruffner) Oakes Jr. and David Christian (Ida) Oakes; daughter, Jennifer Joy (Gabriel) Ables; grandchildren, Olivia Catherine Oakes and Christian Hamilton Oakes; and her faithful companion, James Edward Wiltcher.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Thomas, Patrick Butler, Sid Hynum, Mike Hoben, Kelly Kavanaugh and Jay Ruffner.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Coker, Buddy Wiltcher, Kyle Tullos, Bud Shiers, John Harris and Thomas Powell.
