Eight-run inning catapults Bulldogs

An eight-run first inning kickstarted a season-best 21-hit performance as Mississippi State routed Auburn 15-8 in Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field.
With the victory, the Bulldogs snap a six-series losing streak in Southeastern Conference play.
With its third straight win against a ranked opponent, the Bulldogs improved to 17-6 overall and 3-2 in SEC play. Auburn lost its third straight, falling to 14-9 and 2-3.
MSU senior shortstop Jonathan Ogden had a career-high five RBIs.
Ryan Collins had a season-high four hits.
Chris Stratton (4-1) earned the win in 71⁄3 innings of work. The sophomore right-hander allowed five hits and four runs with five strikeouts and four walks.
Tenn. 6, Ole Miss 4
Errors and miscues proved to be the undoing of the Rebels as Ole Miss (17-7, 2-3 SEC) fell to Tennessee (18-5, 2-3 SEC) at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville.
Alex Yarbrough hit his second home run of the weekend, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI to help pace a Rebel squad that notched nine hits, but committed four errors in the loss.
David Goforth (0-4) took the loss for the Rebels. He allowed four runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Tulane 16, USM 15
Jeremy Schaffer homered and the delivered a game-winning RBI groundout in the top of the 10th inning to lead No. 23 Tulane over No. 25 Southern Miss at Pete Taylor Park.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak against USM for Tulane (18-5 overall, 1-1 C-USA). Former Vicksburg player Bowen Woodson (2-for-4, two-run home run) and former Hinds Community College standout Nick Schneeberger (2-for-5, two RBIs) homered for Tulane.
Southern Miss collected a season-high 21 hits as Adam Doleac collected a career-best five hits, while Kameron Brunty, Tyler Koelling and B.A. Vollmuth added three apiece and Isaac Rodriguez and Justin Diliberto added two each.
LSU at Georgia Postponed
Due to inclement weather Saturday, the Georgia-LSU baseball series will conclude with a doubleheader today beginning at noon in Athens, Ga.
