Georgia beats MSU, 4-1

Mississippi State’s offensive struggles continued Sunday, as the Bulldogs lost to Georgia in the series finale.

Georgia (14-14, 6-3 Southeastern Conference) swept Mississippi State (19-9, 4-5), which scored only five runs in the three-game series. Mississippi State had 19 hits and stranded 20 base runners in the series, while Georgia won all three games despite scoring 12 runs total.

Brett DeLoach hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give Georgia the lead for good, at 2-1. Brandon Stephens had three hits for Georgia, while Kyle Farmer and Peter Verdin each had RBI singles in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively.
