Vivian Dose Evans

DALLAS, Ga. — Mrs. Vivian Dose Evans, age 97, formerly of Vicksburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Douglasville, Ga. A memorial service will be held at the Vicksburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, Indiana Avenue and Lee Road, at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Mrs. Evans was born in Issaquena County, Mississippi, on March 26, 1913, to loving parents, the late Jacob Christian Dose Sr. and Frances Moyzelle Tindol Dose.
She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, John Ellis Gossen who passed away in 1937 and George Richard Evans who passed away in 2000; two daughters, Doris Alise Evans Schlife who passed away in 1978 and Frances Louise Gossen Evans Mohr who passed away in 2001; two sisters; and four brothers.
Grandma Evans loved people; she shared her passion and concern for others as a nurse employed by Nebraska State Hospital. She continued this later in life by visiting and caring for the elderly at nursing homes. Grandma Evans also worked part time for Kroger and was their oldest employee ever. Her favorite pastime was sharing her faith with friends and members of her friendship quilting club. Grandma Evans was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters, Georgia Wyatt of Dallas, Ga., Kaye Arwood of Baytown, Texas, and Judy Councell of Vicksburg; one son, Dr. John E. Gossen Evans of Sumner, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as other beloved family members and friends.
