CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Vera Mae Podesta Janes, 93, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Visitation was Monday, April 18, 2011, from 6 until 7 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale with the wake service beginning at 7. Services were at 11 today, April 19, 2011, at the church with burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale had charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Janes was born in Vicksburg and was a member of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary, Clarksdale Homemakers and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Youngblood, and husband Bill of Clarksdale; grandchildren, Jim Youngblood of Rena Lara, Miss., Heather Watts and husband Paul of Clarksdale. Mrs. Janes also leaves three great-grandchildren, Lee Ann Youngblood, Olivia Watts and Evan Watts.

She was preceded in death by husband Philip Joseph Janes, Jr.
