Mary Ella Curtis

Mary Ella Curtis died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Brandon Court Nursing Home. She was 93.

Mrs. Curtis was born in Conway, Miss. She graduated from Carthage High School and Charity Nursing School in Vicksburg. She retired as a registered nurse. She was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg and the Acacia Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Curtis; and her parents, Earl and Bertie Carpenter.

She is survived by two daughters, Claudette Curtis Davies of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Sue Curtis Crawford of Flora; three brothers, Hubert Carpenter of Birmingham, Ala., T.O. Carpenter of Glendora, Calif., and Chad Carpenter of Carthage; one sister, Earnestine Adams of Lufkin, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Davies, Bill Adams, Wade Carpenter, Keith Carpenter, Kevin Carpenter and Dusty Carpenter.
