A Warren County man was arrested at 1:30 this morning and accused of attempting to break into a Tiffintown Road home late Sunday night, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
Jason Skinner, 19, 310 Dogwood Lake Drive, is suspected of cutting away at least two screens, then kicking in a window of an occupied bedroom of a home in the 3500 block, said Pace.
The resident called E-911 around 11 p.m. to report a burglary in progress, Pace said, and the suspect fled.
Deputies searched the home and the area, finding a car stuck in the mud and abandoned nearby, Pace said. The car was traced to its owner, an adult resident of 310 Dogwood Drive.
At the home, deputies found evidence tying Skinner to the attempted burglary, said Pace, and he was taken to the Warren County Jail for questioning and later charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling at night.
Skinner was being held in the jail without bond, pending an initial hearing, said the sheriff.
“It is unclear as to the motivation behind his breaking into the home,” Pace said. “We have found no connection between the suspect and the victim. By far, the vast majority of burglaries take place in the middle of the day when no one is home, and it is highly unusual for someone to break into a home at night when people are home.”
