Vikings brace for loaded Jaguars

In two meetings this season against Madison Central — the state’s top team with a 26-1 record — Warren Central was outscored 15-1.
Madison Central has three Southeastern Conference signees. The Jaguars, ranked seventh nationally by Maxpreps.com, have hit 36 home runs in 27 games and hit .379 as a team. Five players are batting over .373 and all five have driven in at least 20 runs.
Yet gaudy stats, rankings, records and previous outcomes aside, Warren Central coach Josh Abraham likes his Vikings’ chances against the Jaguars when the Class 6A second-round playoff series opens Friday night at 7 at Madison Central. Game 2 of the best-of-three series will be at Viking Field Saturday night at 7. A third game, if necessary, will be Monday at Madison Central.
WC enters the series at 15-13 and needed three games to subdue Columbus in an opening-round series last Saturday. The second-round series is a rematch of last year’s second-round series, which the Jaguars won in a two-game sweep.
