A vehicle missing from the home of a south Warren County woman killed Monday and believed driven by the victim’s 14-year-old stepdaughter was found Saturday in Greenville. The girl was not found.
Sheriff Martin Pace said his office was contacted by Greenville authorities at about 4 p.m. and Stacy Rollison, one of the Warren County detectives investigating the killing of 32-year-old Michelle Vega at her 100 Jones Road home, was in Greenville and processing the vehicle for forensics in an impound area there Saturday night.
An arrest warrant to charge 14-year-old Tyla Denise Vega in the killing had been issued on Thursday.
Pace said Tyla is known to have had connections to Greenville in the past and investigators believe her mother might still live there.
“I want everyone to know that a warrant charging this girl with murder was issued, and anybody who conceals her or aids her in eluding law enforcement officers will be charged,” he said.
The 2002 Dodge Durango that neighbors said Tyla was driving from the family home minutes before Michelle Vega’s body was found was in a Greenville parking lot when found Saturday. Pace said he did not know which building or business the lot serves.
Michelle Vega was found at about 3 Monday afternoon by her 15-year-old son who was returning home from school.
Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said an autopsy showed she had been shot once in the head.
Ballistics tests were being performed on a gun found in the home to determine if it was used in the killing.
Funeral services for Michelle Vega, who also is survived by her husband, Jason Vega, and another son, were held Friday.
