Additional indictments issued by last week’s Warren County Grand Jury term were released Monday by District Attorney Ricky Smith’s office.
Also released were the names of 12 individuals whose cases were no-billed by grand jurors, who found there was not enough evidence to proceed to trial.
A 13th individual, a minor who was not named, was also no-billed after being a suspect in a rape case, said Brenda Theriot, victim assistance coordinator for the DA’s office. The minor was never arrested for the crime, she said.
The 18 grand jurors were selected and sworn in May 2 by presiding Circuit Judge M. James Chaney.
They reviewed evidence in 113 cases against 142 individuals, issuing indictments in 95 of the cases. In addition, two cases were continued until the next grand jury, and five felony cases were reduced to misdemeanors.
The names of 57 defendants indicted in 64 felony cases were released Friday following their arraignments. Indictments are not made public until defendants have been arraigned and assigned trial dates.
Nearly 30 indicted defendants did not report for arraignment and warrants will be issued for their arrests, Theriot said.
