Billy and Joni McGarrh of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Marie, to Jay Barlow. Mr. Barlow is the son of Jimmy Barlow and Leslie Smith, both of Vicksburg.

Miss McGarrh is the granddaughter of Eula Mae Dedmon and the late Richard A. Dedmon Jr. and Eugene Chafton and the late Mr. and Mrs. C.H. McGarrh, all of Vicksburg.

Mr. Barlow is the grandson of Catherine Barlow and the late James M. Barlow and Patricia Hutchison and the late Wilson Norman Stevens, all of Vicksburg. The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a Key Club Sweetheart, Gator Girl and member of the National Honor Society.

She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2009 from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Beta Alpha Psi accounting honor society. She received a Master of Business Administration degree from Mississippi College in 2010.

Miss McGarrh is a staff accountant at DiamondJacks Casino.

The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was a member of the powerlifting and football teams.

He received Emergency Medical Technician certification from Hinds Community College.

Mr. Barlow is a firefighter with Clinton and Vicksburg fire departments.

Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. June 7, 2011, at Dickenson Bay in St. John’s, Antigua.
