Officials absent?

Although they do what they do for the good of the public, I would like to ask about our mayor, aldermen and supervisors not being mentioned in your paper about their interactions with the local citizenry.

It seems like they have no concern about the public’s devastation caused by the rising waters. I believe that if they were actually out and about meandering with those who voted for them and demonstrating their concern, The Vicksburg Post would surely put it in the paper. However, I have yet to see any stories about what they are doing in relations to this.

I have seen pictures of kids playing in water that may be contaminated and infested with alligators and snakes, but nothing about our public officials.

Either they are locked in their own bubble or they really are doing things like talking with state and national authorities about ensuring that Vicksburg gets all of the help it needs. They’re also working directly with the public to assist our citizens, and you are not publishing it.

You probably already know that it is important for the public to see their elected officials being involved with what affects then directly and indirectly. So, why doesn’t The Vicksburg Post ever print stories about Alderman Michael Mayfield helping to ensure our neighbors are safely moved, or Mayor Paul Winfield being in constant contact with federal and state emergency agencies and visiting with our citizens who have been harmed by the flood?

I am sure many of us would love to know that they really care about our well-being. And your paper could do more to spread the word.
