A shooting following an attempted robbery on Harrison Street Monday night left a Vicksburg man injured and a bullet in a nearby bedroom wall.

Koury Evans, 26, 7823 Halls Ferry Road, was treated and released after being shot in the buttocks, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

No suspect was arrested, but Stewart said he believes one has been identified.

The victim was approached as he walked on Harrison near Martha Street at about 9:30, Stewart said. He was shot as he attempted to run away.

A second bullet went through a bedroom wall in the 1200 block of Harrison, Stewart said. No one in the house was injured.

The assailant did not get anything in the robbery, the lieutenant said.
