Viola Blackmore Chiplin

ARLINGTON, Texas — Viola Blackmore Chiplin died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Heritage Oaks in Arlington, Texas. She was 82.
Mrs. Chiplin attended public schools in Vicksburg and Utica Junior College. She was a substitute teacher in the Vicksburg Public Schools, and she worked for many years at the Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Chiplin was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where she actively participated in the choir, was church secretary and was a member of the church’s beautifying club.
Mrs. Chiplin was preceded in death by four sisters, Joann Blackmore Adams, Bertha “LuLu” Russell, Inez Blackmore and Juliette Blackmore Howard; and a brother, Leon Blackmore.
She is survived by a son, Alfred J. Chiplin Jr. of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Gwendolyn Jewel Chiplin Williams of Amarillo, Texas, and Lucille Chiplin Johnson of Arlington, Texas; one grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, June 22 at 11 a.m., at Mount Carmel M.B. Church with Dr. Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. with the family being present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
