Eddie Ray Butler

Eddie “Ray” Butler died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 63.

A graduate of Vicksburg High School, Mr. Butler was a commercial truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lenard Butler; his mother, Queen Esther Clark; a son, Calvin Turner; one sister, Gloria Wilson; an aunt, Eunice Palmer; and an uncle, Fred Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Butler of Vicksburg; three daughters, Sandra Smith of Vicksburg and Gwendolyn White and Cassandra Fowler, both of Texas; two sons, Ronald Lewis and Donald Lewis, both of Jackson; nine sisters, Barbara J. Butler and Helen Mae Clark, both of San Antonio, Ernestine Wilson and Debra K. Clark, both of Austin, Texas, Sharon D. Butler and Velva A. Gullatte, both of Detroit, and Deborah L. Butler, Sonobia Y. Butler and Carolyn L. Butler, all of Vicksburg; 10 brothers, Percy Bell, Melvin R. Butler, Elvis A. Butler, Larry Butler, Charles Hughes and Derrick Butler, all of Vicksburg, Lenard Butler Jr. and Cedric E. Butler, both of Detroit, Houston Hermon of Chicago and Robert E. Clark of Austin; his stepmother, Clarice Butler of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion No. 1 M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
