A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for possession of methamphetamine, jail records showed.

Jeffery L. Kackley, 28, 144 Harley D Drive, was arrested today at 1:25 a.m. after a routine traffic stop on Fisher Ferry Road near South Glenn Drive. As deputies approached the vehicle, they smelled a chemical odor, common in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, and found two bags of freshly made meth when they searched the vehicle, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

A 16-year-old passenger also was arrested and was taken to the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center, Pace said.

In further investigation, deputies were led to a shed on the property of 695 Dillon Ridge Road and found a meth lab where a batch had been freshly made. Paraphernalia was recovered and a chemical cleanup crew was brought in to safely sanitize the area, Pace said. No charges have been filed against the owners.

Kackley and the juvenile were being held without bond.
