PHOENIX, Ariz. — George Randle Thomas died of a heart attack on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his home in Phoenix, Ariz. He was 47.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest George Thomas of Vicksburg.
Mr. Thomas was born in Oxford and reared in Vicksburg. He attended St. Aloysius School and was graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi. In 1989, he received cum laude his JD degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. While at Ole Miss he was research editor of the Mississippi Law Journal. He received his LL.M in corporate law from the New York School of Law.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Randle Sanders of Lepanto, Ark., and Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas of Vicksburg.
Mr. Thomas was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Jackson. He was an attorney, insurance adjuster and involved in construction projects.
He was a loving father, son and brother who enjoyed hunting and spending time with his two sons and his family.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his twin sons, Hunter Robert Thomas and Benjamin Howard Thomas of Jackson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thomas of Vicksburg; a sister, Ann Blair Stovall and her husband, Henry, of Clinton; and a brother, Benjamin Hill Thomas and his wife, Cathy, of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Glenwood Funeral Home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg with the Rev. Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. Visitation will be Saturday in the sanctuary from 1:30 until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ben Thomas, Henry Stovall, David Thomas, Bob Wilkerson, Richard Sanders, Cicero LaHatte and Mike Griffith.
