Jerry Glenn Kirkley

Jerry Glenn “Kat Daddy” Kirkley died Friday, June 24, 2011, at his home. He was 56.

Born and raised in Vicksburg, Mr. Kirkley was of the Baptist faith. He was a mechanic and heavy-equipment operator and had worked most of his life in the towboat industry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph M. Kirkley; his grandparents, Gale and Mary Ainsworth, Mary J. Jackson and Arch Kirkley; and his wife, Vicki J. Jones.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Jay Kirkley, Merle Glenn Kirkley and Milton Magill Kirkley, all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Heather Williamson of Vicksburg and Shelly Dawn May of Jackson; his mother and stepfather, Gay and Judge Weaver of Vicksburg; his beloved sister, Mary Gail Kirkley Saltzman of Vicksburg; two brothers, Derrolld Dean Kirkley of Vicksburg and Archie Milton Kirkley of Edwards; nieces, Rachel Paine, Marigaye Guidry and Katie Kirkley; nephews, Dustin Kirkley and Ray Broussard; a half-brother, Tony Kirkley; a half-sister, Mary Jane Kirkley; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Van Etten officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Allen, Derrolld Kirkley, Archie Kirkley, Keith Hennis, Harold Hoover, Richard Williamson, Joey Wright and Robbie Coble.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Ainsworth, Judy Ainsworth, Melissa Jones, Jaime Simmons, Kosha Beall, Berney Strauss, Dustin Kirkley and Carl Jones.
