Services for James L. Thompson Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley.

Mr. Thompson died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. He was 60.

He worked at Central Asphalt Co. and County Market. He was born in Jackson and had lived in Vicksburg since 1970.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elijah Thompson, James Earl Williams and Robert Lee Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Cassandra Thompson of Vicksburg; one daughter, Cynthia R. Sterling of Jackson; his mother, Georgia Lee Taylor Williams of Jackson; his father, James Thompson Sr. of Jackson; two sisters, Mary Dixion and Margaret Odom, both of Jackson; four brothers, Joseph Pierce of Vicksburg and John L. Williams, David Williams and Percy Williams, all of Jackson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
