Deborah Ann Elmore-Buckhannon

Deborah Ann Elmore-Buckhannon, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, went to heaven on June 30, 2011, in her family home. She was born in Vicksburg on July 4, 1957.

Deborah was a graduate of Warren Central High School in Vicksburg and attended the University of Mississippi, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She was a chemist for 17 years, then she dedicated herself as a business manager to ensure her sister’s dental practice ran flawlessly.

Deborah met her husband, John, in New Orleans. They united Nov. 13, 1984, in Tallahassee, Fla. From this union came their one and only daughter, Jasmine.

In 2006, they relocated to Vicksburg, where she gave her endless love and devotion to her entire family. Deborah enjoyed shopping, clocks, bells, cherub angels, but mostly she was passionate about a “Coca-Cola.”

She is survived by her husband, John Buckhannon, Vicksburg; her daughter, Jasmine Buckhannon, Tallahassee; her mother, Mary Elmore-Gaddis, Vicksburg; a sister, Dr. Andrea Gaddis, Meridian; brothers, Henry Gaddis Jr., Vicksburg, and Zolton Perry, Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a lovable nephew, Taylor Gaddis, Vicksburg; a special loved one, Clara Reynolds, Vicksburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Gaddis Sr.; and her special cousin, Countee Elmore.

Deborah will be remembered by her family and friends as a passionate, strong-willed, selfless, caring and loving woman. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and they will cherish her memory forever.

Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2011, at 6 p.m. within W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home, Vicksburg. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Ratliff Chapel M.B. Church, Mississippi 22 in Edwards. Peoples Funeral Home, 601-969-3040, of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
