Mother charged in son’s stabbing over beer

A Vicksburg man was in a Jackson hospital this morning after being stabbed during an Independence Day fight with his mother over a beer.
Jeremiah Johnson, 31, 347 Adams St., was in stable condition this morning at University of Mississippi Medical Center, a spokesman said, after being transferred to Jackson after the stabbing that was reported at 9:20 Monday night, Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said.
Johnson’s mother, Edna Williams, who lived at the same address, was arrested at the home and was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning without bond, charged with aggravated domestic violence, Stewart said.
Johnson was stabbed once in the chest, Stewart said.
