Margaret Viola Sanders Sparkman

JACKSON — Margaret Viola Sanders “Peggy” Sparkman died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at her home. She was 63.

Ms. Sparkman was born in Indianola. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from Delta State University. She lived most of her adult life in Jackson, retiring as postmistress of the State Capital in 2010.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Stansbury “Stanny” Sanders.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Margaret Sparkman of Atlanta and Sally Rabinowitz and Janie Sparkman, both of Pensacola, Fla.; her mother, Janie Carré Dale of Greenwood; two sisters, Penny Sanders Varner of Vicksburg and Mary Sanders Hughes of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren; and nieces and other relatives.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Greenwood with the Rev. Glenn Seefeld officiating. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service.
